Place du Portage

The federal government of Canada began construction of the Place du Portage complex in the 1970s in an effort to promote proportional representation of its workforce throughout the National Capital Region. Located in the centre of the City of Gatineau (Hull sector), the complex consists of four Crown-owned office buildings, providing approximately 232,000 square metres of rentable retail/office space, plus an additional 14,963 square metres of utility/storage space in the basement for various federal departments.
